Heini’s Cheese, nestled in the rolling hills of Holmes County and one 
mile from Rolling Ridge Ranch, has been family owned and operated 
since 1935 when cheese maker, John Dauwalder, journeyed from 
Switzerland to call Amish country home.
Since then, Heini’s has produced all natural cheeses the old fashioned
way, using only Amish farm milk. Artificial hormone free milk is
brought to the cheese house daily in old fashioned 10 gallon cans from
over 200 local Amish farms– farms averaging anywhere from 8-12 cows
which are milked by hand. Not only does the all natural farm fresh
milk offer the taste and goodness of a quality product which Heini’s
values, but we are extremely thankful for the relationships we have
enjoyed with our Amish neighbors and friends over the past 75 years.
Heini’s is where the cheese is made. We invite people to watch and
enjoy a free 15 minute tour of Amish cheese makers in the cheese
making process. Heini’s offers samples of 50 varieties of cheese, both
domestic and imported with thirty-six of those cheeses  made at our
cheese house. Heini’s is known for its all natural yogurt cheese, a
lactose-free cheese which contains live, active yogurt cultures.
